Frus-tra-tion~ a feeling of anger or annoyance caused by being unable to do something: the state of being frustrated. : something that causes feelings of anger and annoyance. : the fact of being prevented from succeeding or doing something.

Hmmmph, I had a long weekend and then here comes Tuesday with it’s ‘ole regular self lol. I’m at work and then I get this strong sense of being frustrated, why? Well you read the definition at the top right, those are cute and maybe even accurate but that’s not what it is; at least for me, it’s not. Here comes an honest moment and even a slap in the face, frustration, as defined by Merriam-Webster, is a deep chronic sense or state of insecurity and dissatisfaction arising from unresolved problems or unfulfilled needs.

The instant I read that definition is the moment I realized I have issues, anybody else feel that way? (raise your hand, no one can see you lol) Yes, I said it finally, I have issues and now I can begin my healing process, properly. (Heavy sigh of relief), Ahhh now let’s get down, well try to get down to the bottom of these “issues.” Some of us (raises hand) have a problem with hearing the word(s) No, Wait, Not Right Now, Later, Not Yet, etc. Why, do you have to have everything RIGHT NOW. Gesssh, don’t you know that there is a process for EVERYTHING. We have things that we are insecure about (hair, body, car, clothes, house, relationships, etc) Having these insecurities can lead to dissatisfaction of not achieving the same, which now leads to unresolved problems and unfulfilled needs.

So while typing this post, my mom comes and talks to me about a personal development training she attended in Hawaii over the weekend. Hawaii a beautiful island that allows for quiet time with God and a chance to reflect on life. Initially, I was thinking (to myself) I have to write this so that I can post it, but then I sat back and started listening. In listening to her she said something that will end up being another post later on, but right now I’m going to include it here. We DO NOT  pay attention to the things around us, nor do we pay attention to the inner voice within us that is a gift from God. Majority of us have a problem with listening and paying attention, but that could also be because as children we were programmed a certain way.

So let’s try an exercise right now, wherever you are close your eyes and quiet your mind. Now inhale (hold for 3 sec), exhale and listen to what’s going on around you (eyes still closed). Okay now open your eyes and write down everything you can remember hearing. Look around and see if you did well at listening, listening is a part of paying attention. Most of us don’t pay attention because our brains are focused on too many things. This is where frustration sets in, you wanna do so many things but you can’t because you’re doing them in your own might (LET GO). God is looking at you and saying well looks like they got it from here, news flash you DO NOT have it. If we were able to do things we would not need a Savior. Allow God to cleanse and purge you from all that is causing you insecurity, dissatisfaction, and unfulfillment. Replace it with Joy, Peace, Love, and Health.

This may be hard for some because you are so used to being in control but step back for a change allow God to be the driver, pilot, captain, BOSS. I’m positive He knows better than you do. Allow Him to be the center of your life and see where He can take you when you surrender your life to him.

Here is an awesome verse you can meditate on when you begin to get frustrated and need a reminder to trust God.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” ~Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV

Personally, The Message translation always seems to resonate with me a little better, so here goes: “Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to GOD! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life!” ~Proverbs 3:5-8, MSG
